MSI Introduces First Nettop Powered by Intel Core 2 Duo WindBox III with Fanless

MSI has presented WindBox III, a mini PC features Intel CULV and performance over typical nettop. Here are the specifications in detail.

Who buys a mini PC, commonly known as nettop, probably needs a small footprint and requires modest performance. Indeed, one of typical users of such systems is the management of multimedia content. Generally, the various nettop processors exploit Intel Atom, characterized precisely by the modest but fairly efficient performance. MSI offers its customers WindBox III. This is a device designed to offer something more than the mini PC on the market today.

Unlike the latter, uses processors Intel CULV. Specifically, MSI WindBox III is equipped with a processor Intel Core 2 Duo chipset paired with Intel GS45 + ICH9M. The graphics controller is the usual GMA 4500 and has an HDMI video output (also VGA and DVI) to connect the nettop to external high-definition televisions and offer the ultimate in video playback. The integrated video controller, it not only supports the 1080p FullHD, but also provides support for DirectX 10 graphics library.

MSI WindBox III, characterized by soft lines and elegant finishes that lend themselves well to any location in different environments, has well 6 USB 2.0 ports, 2 internal PCIe slot and 2 COM ports. Nor are missing either the network adapter Gigabit Ethernet, WiFi connectivity for wireless connections and a Bluetooth module for data exchange. MSI's new device is well equipped with 4 GB of RAM that help improve overall system performance.

Through a VESA bracket you can install the nettop in the back of a display or TV with minimal footprint and promoting overall aesthetic. On the other hand, the design of this model is so nice and studied in detail that he does not disgrace at any time. Featuring a slim profile, the WindBox III, at first glance, it might be mistaken for a sort of router. Recall that the same number of part III WindBox models DE220, DC220 and DC520 officially presented at CeBIT last.
